ACCOUNT SUPERVISOR
Reporting to DEY.’s Head of Strategy and Media Relations, with a dotted line to the Director of Client Services, the Account Supervisor guides strategic public relations and influence efforts, ensuring campaigns are effectively developed and executed in alignment with client objectives. Acting as the primary point of contact, this role requires timely, diplomatic, and clear communication to foster trust, collaboration, and buy-in with clients.
A key contributor to nurturing and maintaining strong media relations, the Account Supervisor develops innovative PR and influence strategies and crafts compelling narratives and pitches. With the consolidation of the media landscape, this role requires a nimble, creative mindset to ensure big ideas resonate and reach their target audiences effectively. Balancing high-level strategic oversight with detailed task management, the Account Supervisor coordinates internal workflows, manages projects, and fosters teamwork to keep initiatives on track. Through proactive leadership and strategic insight, the Account Supervisor supports the team's collective efforts to achieve results while upholding high standards of execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Account Management + Client Stewardship
Strategic Account Development: Assist senior management in the development of comprehensive account strategies and plans, helping ensure all activities align with client goals. Provide research, creative insights, and solutions conducting landscaping research for relevant themes and topics, identifying media and speaking opportunities, and helping prepare client strategy documents.
Client Stewardship and Communication: Act as the primary point of contact, fostering trust, collaboration, and alignment through timely, diplomatic, and clear communication. Ensure transparency in all interactions to demonstrate value, address questions, and proactively manage client expectations. Help prepare agendas for client calls and meetings, provide consistent updates, follow up after calls, and maintain ongoing communication.
Client Success and Strategy Oversight: Maintain a focus on client success by monitoring progress on campaign objectives and recognizing when pivots or course corrections are necessary. Ensure clients are well-prepared for media interviews or other opportunities; help prepare and deliver strategic updates, debriefs, and activity reports; and maintain regular communication to keep clients informed and confident in the direction and progress of their campaigns.
Media Relations + Content Development
Strategic Media Implementation: Ensure confident and strategic implementation of public relations and influence strategies. Drive smart, tactical execution to meet client objectives by identifying opportunities and helping place clients in targeted high-level media outlets to boost visibility and reinforce their positioning.
Media Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts and influencers across traditional tier-one media as well as emerging formats and channels, such as podcasts, video series, newsletters, substacks, blogs, and more, to generate awareness of clients' perspectives and positioning.
Content Creation and Messaging: Write engaging and persuasive media materials, including pitches, Q&As, web content, client correspondence, strategy and reporting documents, blog articles, etc.
Project Management + Team Collaboration
Timeline and Deliverable Management: Oversee and manage project timelines, ensuring deliverables are met efficiently and effectively. Coordinate internal workflows and manage external vendors and interns to maintain smooth project execution.
Workflow Coordination: Oversee and collaborate with support teams to ensure quality and consistency across client work, including tracking opportunities, managing deliverables, monitoring tasks and milestones, and scheduling key meetings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is primarily remote but requires regular in-person meetings with the team, journalists, and clients, as well as occasional travel. For this reason, candidates must reside in the tri-state area, with a preference for those based in New York City.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in PR and media relations.
Must reside in the tri-state area, with a preference for those based in New York City.
Expertise in media relations, encompassing tier-one media outlets as well as new and emerging formats such as podcasts, video series, and digital platforms.
Ability to navigate various sectors, including climate, economics and finance, health and medicine, science, and technology.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to deliver clear, concise, and diplomatic messages to steward both internal and external relationships.
Capable of effectively communicating up, down, and across an organization to ensure timely delivery of objectives.
Ability to anticipate client needs, look ahead to upcoming milestones and deliverables, and plan backward with detailed steps.
Demonstrates strong strategic thinking paired with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in a communications firm, or within communications for a purpose-driven organization, whether through NGOs, academia, non-profits, purpose-driven for-profits, or government entities.
Ability to complete tasks quickly while maintaining quality.
Familiarity with understanding of the nuance and discretion required when engaging with high-profile clients or VIPs.
